What it usually is

- The immersion heater is not heating.
- The boiler will not start. That is work for a licensed technician, and the service is not open yet.
What you can safely do now
- Check whether it is one tap or the whole home.
- If an immersion heater smells of burning, unplug it only if the plug is dry and within reach.
- If you smell gas, do not use switches or flames, open the windows, leave, and call the gas emergency line.
When it's urgent
Having no hot water can wait. A smell of gas or burning cannot.
